Two seat DO-335 on July 1, 1945. There were two of these aircraft at the field near Munich. One was taken to England and later crashed. The other was taken to the United States for uation. The two-seater trainer version was called Ameisenbär ("anteater").

After the war, the 357th FG deployed to Germany near Munich. This HE-111 and many other German aircraft were on their airfield. The 357th FG was assigned to Fliegerhorst (Military Airbase) Neubiberg (ALG R-85), Germany, 21 July 1945 – 20 August 1946.

End of War in Europe Orders
Lt McDonald and Lt Taylor at Niederwald monument near Ruedesheim, Germany, beside the Rhine River . The monument was to commemorate the unification of Germany in 1871.
Photo taken by Lt John McDonald arriving in New York Harbor, Dec 4th 1945, aboard a Norwegian Victory Ship. 11 days from Le Harve, France to New York City. You can only imagine how John felt coming home from the war in Europe.
