Soldier Accounted For From World War II (Lingo, A.)
The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced today that U.S. Army Air Forces Capt. Arthur M. Lingo, 24, killed during World War II, was accounted for Jan. 10, 2025. In late 1944, Lingo was assigned to 362nd Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group, 66th Fighter Wing, 8th Fighter Command. During a bomber escort mission to Sorau, Germany, the P-51 Mustang fighter he piloted was shot down by enemy aircraft and crashed near Miesterhorst, Germany. Lingo was reported missing in action on April 11, 1944, and his remains were not identified after the war. The Army issued a presumptive finding of death for Lingo for Oct. 18, 1945.

On 1 August 2024, WWII Triple Ace Bud Anderson was honored at the McKnight Crossing Shopping Center in Grass Valley, California. A life size statue of Bud was unveiled at a ceremony honoring Bud by Mesa Management. Honoring service members and first responders at Patriot’s Point
23 July 2024 a Celebration of Life was held for WWII Triple Ace Bud Anderson at Warbirds in Review at Air Venture 2024, Oshkosh, WI. A special “Thank You” to all who participated and to EAA Warbirds for honoring Bud.

26 May 2022 – WWII Triple Ace CE “Bud” Anderson attended a Premier Showing of the new “Top Gun Maverick” movie tonight, put on by the Auburn Aviation Association. All proceeds go to the Col. Bud Anderson Scholarship Fund. ABC local Sacramento, CA, TV asked to interview Bud pre and post movie for his reaction. Mark from ABC says the interviews will be broadcast on Memorial Day. This is a great movie and Bud loved it. We aren’t giving anything away, so you will have to see the action for yourself. Great job Tom Cruise! Donate to the Col. Bud Anderson Scholarship Fund!
