Went oversea as 1st Lt. element leader. Finished
first tour of duty as Capt. and 7 plane. Went
back for second tour and was squadron C.O. when
war ended and was highest ace in group with 23 planes
destroyed. Wears the Silver Star with a cluster.

Caruthersville, MO.)
Overseas as a 1st. Lt. element leader, later
operation Off. during first tour. Didn't come
home but put in two tours. Destroyed 18 planes,
was C.O. of 362nd F. Sqd. and made Major.

Engineering Off. with the 362 F.S.
First ground off. to return to the states.
(19)	HAGAN, KENNETH E. CAPT. O-740410
(Mrs. Bonnie J. Hagan, wife, Broadwell, Illinois.)
Was Ass't. Oper. Officer of the squadron when he
went down June 17, 1944 back of the beach head.
Escaped thru the lines safely and returned to
states. Now in Florida on a standardization
board. Had two planes destroyed.
(20)	KEHRER, MERLIN R. 1st. LT.
(Mr. Robt. E. Kehrer, father,
4705 So. Pky., Louisville, Ky.)
Flew with the R. C. A. F. before joining up
with our squadron. was shot down in southern
Germany Febr. 25 '44 by a FW 190 which R. D.
Brown later destroyed. Was a prisoner of war
until camp was liberated in '45 at end of war.
(21)	LICHTER, ALBERT C. 1st. Lt. O-532312
(Mr. Henry Lichter, father
800 So. Jerome St., Algona, Iowa.)
First man we lost over Germany when he was
hit by flak over Holland. Was a P.W. and
was liberated at end of war. Went down
Febr. 22 '44.

(Mrs. Harriet Perron, wife, 120 E. 11th St.
Claremont, Calif.) Had three planes to credit 
when he went down in channel. Collided in bad
